Network marketing, also known as Multi-Level Marketing (MLM), is a business-distribution model that allows a parent company to market its products directly to consumers by means of relationship referrals and direct selling.

It is primarily concerned more with the organization of a sales network than with the sale itself.

Creating passive income - also known as residual income - is the goal of the network marketing business owner. It is one of the keys to wealth creation (and, depending on your perspective, happiness, too).

Passive income, or residual income, is where you continue to be paid in the future for effort you put in now. It's like what you get if you record a hit song, or buy and rent out a building, or write a best selling novel.

The vast majority of us trade hours for dollars (i.e., at a job). And if that ends up being our only source of income then we may never create real wealth. We might be earning very well but unless we use some of that money to create a source of residual income we will never be financially independent.

In Network Marketing, the “networker” (Business Owner) mostly starts to build up its own business before helping other business partners to build their own, similar to a franchisor.

In contrast to franchising where only one company opens new branches at significant expense and relatively high risk to the franchisee, in Network Marketing each independent business owner (networker, distributor) can open new network businesses with a small financial investment and very little risk.

The business owner basically works to organize his or her network, and gets paid for the qualified sales within that network.

According to Paul Zane Pilzer, the well-known economist, multi-millionaire, and professor, there will be a massive growth of 10 million millionaires over the 10 year period from 2006 to 2016 in the U.S. alone. And these will mostly come from network marketers using the internet. He also states that as long as we are trading hours for dollars, we will always be vulnerable to the fast changing economic times. Change is so rapid today that our jobs will alter substantially or disappear within the next 2 or 3 years.

So this distribution channel has a huge potential for growth in future all over the world
